Ishvita’s POV

I walked into the library, my very soul torn. I worked so hard to reach the position of manager in the restaurant. But they took just one blow to fire me just because of some accusations that weren’t even proven yet.

I sighed and greeted the librarian, Mrs Kapoor, with a warm smile despite the aching hurt in my heart.

Walking in, I found the library mostly empty today. Just Mrs Kapoor on her desk, working, and Ramesh bhaiya arranging the books.

Probably, this is the way I love this library the most. When there is no one to disrupt my peace.

The library was a big, vast place, made ages ago, that’s why the architecture still screamed like royalty. It always left like peace wrapped in books and the fragrance of hope in the air lingering from the books.

Looking forward, I walked towards the Desi romance section.

A way to calm my heart despite everything.

I picked up a novel by Sonali Dev, A Bollywood Affair.

Well, I had already heard from my colleagues that this book is actually really good.

I braced myself to enter another new world and forget myself for a while. I plugged in my earplugs, and a slow Bollywood song began to play, ‘Sajde’

[Sajde kiye hote khuda ke maine agar

Chorr ke na jaata woh bhi iss qadar]

I began reading about how the two people, Mili and Samar, had gotten tied into a relationship while both of them were immature and unaware of the decisions that their elders were making in befalf of them.

Tying them both in the bond of marriage and securing them as each other’s partners.

Over time, Mili still lived in the village while Samar left the country.

I wasn’t even halfway through the novel when I realised that it had gotten really late and I had overstayed in the library again.

To avoid getting a lecture from my mother. I rushed towards the library door with my anklets chiming in every step I took.

In my rush, I accidentally bumped against someone, and my dupatta flew in front of his face.

Not touching him, just covering his face, only exposing his eyes for me to see.

My gaze locked onto his eyes, blue and calm like a river… serene even. It held a calmness that even calmed the rush and heaviness in my heart without me even realising it was there.

Just then, my phone rang, bringing me out of my trance.

The called ID displayed Maa.

I immediately remembered why I was rushing to get home.

I walked back towards the door in fast steps, but I turned one last time to look at the man whose eyes had enchanted me for a while.

But as fate would have it, he had already turned back, and I couldn’t even see his whole face.

‘Stupid duppata’, I thought and walked out.

Avinash’s POV

I sat on a chair; the library still held warmth, but that wasn’t what I was thinking right now. Not exactly.

I was still in the moment when her hazel green orbs were locked onto my blue orbs. It was like the sea meeting the land.

I heard the chime of her anklets; it was something that made my heartstrings pull and somehow made me forget all the stress and pressure of the marriage my parents were putting on me.

I don’t know how and even why I am feeling this way, for a girl didn’t even see properly as her hair was falling on her face due to the air leaving only her eyes exposed to me.

Maybe not everything has a reason. But I feel an undeniable pull towards her.

As I looked in front of me, a book was sitting still open. I checked the title, and it was ‘The Bollywood Affair.’

As she was the only person in the library, it must be her who was reading this.

Good choice. Actually pretty similar to my choice.

I looked at the page she was on. Page number 18.

I decided to keep a bookmark for her so the girl with the speed with electricity wouldn’t forget where she was reading.

I didn’t have a bookmark.

I checked my pocket for something to secure the page in place. I found a fifty-rupee note. So, smiling to myself, I took out a pen and scribbled a note.

“To the girl with the mesmerising hazel green orbs. Your anklet’s chime and the encounter with you did make my day better. Thank you, Anaamya,” I wrote and kept the note in the book while I read the same book.

After almost half an hour, I closed the book and put it back into the shelf.

Hoping that it would be picked up again by the same girl.

And if fate would have it, she will come and take the book before anyone else.
