Chapter 42: Kho gaye ham kaha

Author’s POV

“Anya, kal India jane se pehle let's go to the club,” Yuvraj said with a suggestion and slight excitement in his tone.

(Anya, let's go to the club here before going back to India.)

Aaranya thought for a second before nodding, her excitement matching his “Haan okay!”

He walked towards the place where their clothes were kept and picked up a packet in which a bodycon wine-coloured dress with thin straps and a high slit was placed.

“Yeh lo. Kaisi hai?” He asked while looking at her, trying to gauge her expression.

(Take this. How is it?)

She looked at the dress with a small smile, “It's very pretty… Thankkieeeeyouuuu,” She said, adorably stretching the word.

After a moment, she was trying to tie a necklace around her neck but was unable to clasp it.

“Lao mai kar deta hu,” Yuvraj said and gently removed her hands while swiftly clasping the necklace in place.

(I’ll do it.)

She turned around, her hair slightly hitting his face.

She looked ethereal.

The dress draped around her curves at the perfect places, her hair falling down her shoulders in loose curls and her doe eyes looking even prettier with the eyeliner.

Her makeup looked exactly in place, highlighting her features beautifully. A thin diamond necklace adorned her neck.

His eyes fell on the slit, which clearly revealed the milky lining on her legs.

“My eyes are up, darling”, Aaranya said, breaking Yuvraj’s trance with a teasing edge in her voice.

He looked up, eyes widened, suddenly caught “I… I wasn’t…. I” He stumbled upon his words, not ready to come clean yet.

“Yeah, I know you weren’t staring at my legs.” She said, trying to hold back the laughter bubbling.

A dark bashful red crept up to his neck as he closed his eyes briefly.

“Ahaa chill!! You look way too sexy yourself.” She said, leaning closer.

He was standing in his three-piece tux, well set up with his stark deep cologne, a branded watch glistening on his wrist.

He blushed even harder, and she finally laughed.

“Gosh, you look even sexier.” She teased playfully while he rushed out, “Jaldi chalo, we will get late.”

(Come fast we will get late.)

She giggled, “Haa bhag jaiye.

(Yes run away.)

Soon in the club

They entered with Yuvraj’s arm around Aaranya’s waist and her end entwined in his.

The people got silent as they entered and greeted them with polite smiles.

The club manager immediately announced on the microphone in his Swiss accent, “Guys, please let's put our hands together and welcome the king and queen of Udaipur from India.”

The people cheered, and they addressed the crowd calmly before going to a corner.

Their attention was still on them, but they were lost in each other, whispering and swaying to the songs.

After a moment…

“Bhook lagi hai?” Yuvraj asked Aaranya while she nodded, “Haan” He smiled and softly kissed her forehead before pulling back to get some food from the food counter.

(Are you hungry?)

(Yes)

He took out some food, which Aaranya usually preferred, into one plate carefully and enough for both of them as he went back to her.

As he was approaching her, he saw a man near her trying to hug her.

His heart burned, and rage grew hard on him as he couldn’t hold it within himself anymore. He rushed there and kept the plate on the table before pulling the guy in a headlock.

“Kya kar raha tha tu?” He asked in a seething, hot angry voice, clearly signalling he wasn’t in the mood for jokes.

(What were you doing?)

The man looked confused “Sir? What do you mean? I don’t understand.” He said he did not understand the Hindi phrase Yuvraj had used.

Aaranya somehow managed to calm Yuvraj down and persuade him to leave the guy.

The guy who looked good with no evil deed in his mind looked at Yuvraj with realisation, “Sir, you might have misunderstood. Here we hug to greet each other.” He said, trying to explain.

Yuvraj nodded, understanding, “But man, you should still ask for consent even if it's just tradition.” He said, nodding, “Sorry, sir, I’ll keep that in mind.” He said while walking off.

Aaranya was sitting on the chair while Yuvraj pulled out a chair beside her.

“Are you okay?” He asked softly.

She nodded “More than okay. I had refused the hug, and he was just going away.” She said, telling him the entire situation.

He looked at her for a second with a sudden guilt “Aha maine overreact kar diya na…”

(I overreacted.)

Aaranya leaned closer to him with a reassuring smile “Haan, but its okay. It just shows you love me and care for me.” She said while kissing his cheek.

He smiled back

“Khana kha lete hai.” He suggested while pulling the plate closer and took a bite near her lips.

(Lets eat)

She accepted it without any hesitation, and they continued eating.

Yuvraj’s POV

A few of my business associates there approached me while my face moulded back to its cold starkness rather than the warmth it just held.

“Sir, it's such a pleasure to meet you.” One of them spoke while I nodded, acknowledging them.

A few minutes passed while I was discussing business with them in my usual ruthless spirit, when I turned back to look at Aaranya, I saw that she wasn’t there.

The plate was left there as it was.

I got up from my chair to look around for her, and soon my gaze fell to the corner where she had taken the centre of the stage.

People had gathered around her while she was busy performing her best moves.

I like the way you kiss me

I like the way you-, uh

I like the way you kiss me, I can tell you miss me

I can tell it hits, hits, hits, hits

As soon as her gaze fell on me, she ran towards me and pulled me to the centre with her, circled her arms around my neck and leaned in as if to kiss me.

I looked at her with wide eyes and closed my eyes, not embarrassed and clearly enjoying.

She seems drunk.

Yes, drunk; the smell of alcohol is strong from her lips.

Though I really want to kiss her addictive lips like hell right now, but I can't.

I can't when she is not in her senses.

Not tryna be romantic, I’ll hit it from the back.

Just so you don’t get attached.

The lyrics flowed in their flirty sense while she teased me, not kissing.

She murmured her lips against my neck with a wink but just then the volume dropped slightly.

She pulled away, and a look of irritation flashed on her face as she turned to the man standing by the DJ.

“Bhai thoda volume increase karo.” She said loudly, slightly stumbling and I balanced her before anyone or the man could comply with her request… more like order.

(Brother, increase the volume a bit.)

I picked her up bridal style “Jaana volume toh aapka increase hoga ghar pahonch ne ke baad.” I whispered in her ear while she looked back at me with wide eyes and innocence like a child.

(Sweetheart, volume would increase, but yours, when we reach home.)

My heart melted right away.

She tried to wiggle out of my hold, but I held on tight and walked out of the club in quick strides.

“Aaahhh!!! Ruko Rajj Dance karna hai!” She said as I finally placed her on her feet beside the car.

(Ahh! Raj stop. I want to dance.)

I shook my head, trying to look strict “Nahi! Chalo jaldi kal subah hame wapis India jana hai. Waha jaakar dance karna.” I said sternly. Or at least tried to.

(No! Come fast; we have to go back to India also tomorrow. We’ll dance there.)

She pouted and sat on the road stubbornly. “Nahi! Nahi! Nahi! Abhi dance karna hai.”

(No! No! No! I want to dance now.)

I sighed, trying to hold onto my composure “Baccha chalo apne hotel mai jaakar dance karenge.” I said and picked her up from the road.

(Sweetie, come now, we will dance when we reach our hotel.)

She looked at me for a moment, blinking and trying to keep her focus “Pakka? Pakka wala promise?” She spoke while looking at me expectantly.

(Promise?)

I nodded “Pakka wala promise.” She smiled and sat on the passenger seat while I opened the door for her.

(Surely, promise.)

After fixing her seat belt and making sure she was comfortable, I walked back towards the driving seat.

The drive to the hotel was almost quiet, but inside I knew there was a tornado blowing in her mind with ideas.

My little tornado.

Soon I pulled the car into the hotel parking and helped her out.

She tried to balance herself but clearly wobbled slightly, so I picked her up in my arms again and walked into the hotel.

The receptionist and all the other people looked at us, some jealous, some admiring, but I didn’t mind.

As we reached our room, I unlocked the door with the click key and walked into the place while gently placing her on the bed.

“Aap baitho main bas abhi aata hoon” I said and walked towards the hall area where our luggage was kept. I picked out a cosy outfit for myself and her and went back to her.

(You sit, I am just coming.)

As I neared the room, soft sounds of lyrics of ‘koi na’ fell to my ears.

I sighed internally. This girllll!!!

She came out of the room slightly stumbling, but her soft voice came out clear enough as she sang the lyrics.

Ho oo oo tu to mere surme jaisa
Ho oo oo tu to mere sapne jaisa
Akhiyon mein rakhna hai
Sabse chhupa ke tujhko
Chupke se marzi se
Chahungi tujhko

She came towards me and took my hand while looking deep into my eyes. She sang with a determination that spoke depths; she meant each word despite being drunk.

Yaara mere dil ke karib koi naa
Tere siva apna nasib koi naa
Sang tere rehna khayal banke
Aati mujhe duji tarqeeb koi naa

She pointed at her heart and swatted her palm across my chest playfully before getting back into her performance and singing.

A soft loving smile touched my face as I looked at her, my heart swelling with love and protectiveness.

Dilon ki ameeri mein gareeb koi naa
Ashiqon se badh ke ajeeb koi naa
Aankhein mile jab tab jaan pe bane
Ishqey se unchi to saleeb koi naa

The way she sang, the way she held my hand, the way her chest touched mine, the way her eyes deeply met mine all made my heart flutter.

Looking at her so vulnerable and real that the flutter grew, I softly pecked her cheek, clearly not wanting to go further when she wasn’t in the state to say no.

Chura le mujhe ab sajjana tu saara
Jawani tere naam kar di maine yaara
Laga ke tujhe honth se apni dekhun
Kahan se tu meetha kahan se tu khaara

While singing and acting onto the lyrics, her lips lightly grazed my neck while her tongue trailed over.

I closed my eyes, my hand clenched at my sides as I tried to control myself. But each lingering touch made my resolve loosen.

Before it could completely drop, I swept her up from the floor and walked back to the bed.

I placed her there and looked at her sternly while trying to cover how she managed to get the beast out of me almost. “Sleep! Now.” I commanded softly as she pouted, wanting to argue more but obliged as she lay on the bed. I covered her with the soft sheets and walked to the washroom to change.

As I entered, I saw the outfit I had brought for her on the table, so, having no choice, I switched off the lights and changed her clothes.

Because, of course, I have no right to look at her vulnerability while she isn’t humble enough to say no.

After that, I removed her makeup with the cotton pad and went to sleep beside her and pulled her into my arms.

She let out a soft sigh of relief against my chest and fell asleep again.
