Chapter 41: Un lamho mai tum

Tu hi toh jannat meri, Tu hi mera junoon

Tu hi to mannat meri, Tu hi rooh ka sukoon

Tu hi aakhion ki thandak, tu hi dil ki hai dastak

Aur kuch na janu mein, bas itna hi jaanu

Tujh mein rab dikhta hai

Yaara mein kya karu

Author’s POV

Yuvraj woke up in the morning to see both of them completely draped against each other inside the blankets. Her face was tucked inside the crook of his neck, and her arm flung around him. He smiled softly while detangling himself.

After a moment, he was successful and went to the washroom.

As he came out of the washroom, he saw Aaranya already awake and looking at the mountain view from the balcony.

He back hugged her, and she looked up with a small smile.

β€œI can’t believe we made it till here.” She said with a peaceful, serene look on her face.

A slight ray of sunlight fell on them despite the cold in the air.

β€œWe definitely did.” He replied while kissing her forehead, and they looked out of the balcony while talking.

β€œRaj, I’ll come after freshening up in a while.” She said and left, leaving Yuvraj alone with his thoughts.

He kept thinking about how surely life had finally given them the peace they always deserved.

He ordered breakfast and went into the bedroom.

After a moment, Aaranya came out of the room dressed in the cosy outfit Yuvraj had kept for her.

A white sweater with a beige long overcoat, along with that beneath it, she wore fleece stockings and a skirt, a muffler tied around her neck.

β€œEhhh, Yuvraj, this outfit is so cute!!” Aaranya squealed while admiring herself in the mirror and putting on some lip gloss.

Yuvraj went towards her and kissed her forehead β€œOf course it is when you are the one wearing it.” He said softly while brushing a stray hair strand away from her face.

She smiled and was about to say something when Yuvraj suddenly pecked her on her lips.

Her gaze instantly turned confused, along with a frown, as she saw him inspecting something on his face in the mirror.

β€œKya hua achanak se aapko?” She asked in confusion.

(What happened to you suddenly?)

He just replied shamelessly, β€œMy lips were looking dry, so I borrowed some gloss. Thank you.” He said while she looked down, blushing.

β€œAww mera chota tamatar.” He teased her while she looked up, suddenly annoyed and pushed him, β€œTamatar nahi bolna.” She said with a pout.

(Aww, my little tamato.)(Don’t call me a tomato.)

He kissed on the pout before speaking softly, yet his voice tinged with the exact amount of mischievousness enough to annoy her, β€œChota cherry bolu?” He asked

(Should I call you little cherry then?)

Aaranya looked at him with a deadpan look for a while, thinking if he had really said that and then pushed him, β€œJaiye aap, pagal chukandar kahi ke.” She said in frustration and went over to the table where their food was already placed.

(You leave stupid beetroot.)

He jogged towards them quickly, following her, β€œAreyy ruko Jaana ghussa mat ho.” He said, trying to butter her with praises and sweet whispers.

(Stop my love, don’t be angry.)

She looked up at him sharply, β€œGhussa na hu toh kya nachu?” She asked with a done look.

(If I don’t get angry, then should I dance?)

He smiled and gave a nervous look, β€œBilkul… chlo sath mai nachenge.” He said, placing his hand forward for her.

(Sure… Let's go dance together.)

She swatted his hand away.

β€œNikloo!!” She said angrily while taking out the warm food.

(Gooo!!)

He sat beside her, looking at her with puppy-eyed expression and a look to fall for β€œOhh meri Anya. Meri pyari anya. Meri sundar anya. Meri natkhat anya. Meri choti anya. Meri mastikhor anya. Meri jaan anya. Maaf kar do na mujhe.” He said playfully while nudging her.

(Ohh my Anya. My preety Anya. My beautiful Anya. My mischievous Anya. My little Anya. My playful Anya. My life, Anya. Please forgive me.)

A smile was on the verge of breaking on her lips, but she stopped it, turning her head to one side and still pretending to be angry.

He pulled out his phone and played a Punjabi song, the vibe that she loved and placed the phone aside while getting up and pulling her to the centre.

Kanna vich jhumka, akhaan vich surma

Hoth jaise strawberry candy

Nak utte koka jeena kare mera aukha

He gestured to the earings anya was wearing and then twirled her while pulling her closer as he placed small, soft kisses on her eyes, on the word β€˜surma’.

Then, as the song proceeded, he pulled back to take a clear look at her face and then leaned in to peck her lips, but just with a lingering tease, he pulled back, making her slightly annoyed.

He chukled and gently tapped at her nose, at β€˜koka’, while placing his hand at his chest as if her looks were deadly enough to murder him.

Hai meri jaan kadd laindi

Tere nakhre, haaye toba sanu maarde

Ho geya hai mera baby bura haal

Sacchi lutt gaye tere iss pyar mein

Jinni zindagi hai bas tere naal

He walked towards her while pulling her closer and inhaling her scent as if without it his life was in grave danger.

He held his ears, made a pouty smile, and whispered, β€˜Maaf kar do’

Aarnaya finally melted and smiled.

Cause I love you

I love you

At the last two phrases, with a boost to his confidence as she had forgiven him, she shouted his confession, making it echo in the room and swept her off the floor while twirling her.

β€œAyeee duniyaaa waloo meri anya ne mujhe maaf kar diyaa!!” He announced while twirling and peppering her face with kisses, making her giggle.

(See, people of the world, my Anya has forgiven me.)

They soon had breakfast and left for the Lauterbrunnen Valley to enjoy the bliss of nature with each other's company.

As their car pulled near the location.

Yuvraj helped Aaranya out of the car, and cold air and mist greeted them with a hit of lingering love.

The sky was slightly golden from the sunlight, and the snow had started to melt.

They walked around the valley laughing and talking while holding hands.

Yuvraj pulled Aarnaya close, making sure she was comfortable.

After a while, they were clicking pictures at a corner of the valley when a wicked thought crossed Aarnaya’s mind, and she picked up some snow and threw it at Yuvraj’s face.

He looked shocked for a second and then laughed, wiping off the snow and picking up some in his hands as he threw it at her.

She giggled, and they broke into a full-blown snowfight.

β€œMazaaa aa raha hai Yuvrajj!!” Aaranya said excitedly while throwing another snowball at him and running around while laughing as if her inner child was unleashed.

(It's so much fun, Yuvrajjj!!)

He didn’t mind it. He had stopped throwing snow at her already for a few minutes and was quietly admiring her with a smile.

Another thought crossed Aaranya’s mind, and she looked at Yuvraj before speaking, β€œChlo snowman banate hai.” She said while sitting down on the snow and collecting it.

(Come, let's make a snowman.)

Yuvraj nodded, β€œAs my highness says.” He said, making her giggle as he went to pick out pebbles, stones and a carrot he just brought from the store.

Aaranya was collecting some snow when Yuvraj discreetly placed all the stuff beside her and rubbed his cold hands over her cheeks.

β€œAhh Rajj kya kar rahe hai aap.” She said, squirming under his touch while he laughed.

(Ahh, Raj, what are you doing?)

β€œArey meri nanhi si lugai itni thand lag rahi hai aapko? Waise toh December ke mahine mai bhi sleeveless pehen leti hai. Jaii auratt!” He said with a mock salute and joined his hands in front of her, playfully making her giggle

(My little wifey, you are so cold? Usually you wear sleeveless in December too. Hail women.)

β€œAshirvad granted.” She said while continuing to collect snow.

After a while, they were done making a large snowman with stones as his eyes and mouth, a carrot as his nose and sticks as his hands.

β€œRaj kitna pyaara lag raha hai na?” She asked while admiring their masterpiece, and he nodded, completely agreeing with her.

(Raj, this is so pretty!)

Yuvraj clicked some pictures of Aaranya along with the snowman, and they clicked some more selfies before leaving.

Yuvraj’s POV

As soon as we reached back to our hotel room, or I should say a grand apartment. I was sitting on the bed while Aarnaya was looking through the gifts we had brought, as we had to leave tomorrow morning.

Yes, the trip was very small.

Almost our honeymoon.

But we couldn’t stay much, as being declared rulers gives us responsibilities we have to address.

While I was admiring Anya, whose gaze was completely focused on the gifts while she wrote names on them neatly, my phone rang.

I picked up the call, and it was the entire family, the Rathores and Raghuvanshis.

β€œBeta Aaru ko bhi bula le, khush khabri hai.” Sasur papa ji said. I nodded and looked at Anya, who hadn’t noticed the distraction yet. β€œJaana, call aya hai, sab line par hai,” I called out softly.

(Son call aaru, there is good news.) (Love, your parents have called)

She sighed and came to sit beside me. Just as she was in frame, Maa sa greeted her, β€œAreyy aa gyi Aaru ab bata dete hai.” She said.

(Aaru is here, let's tell the news now.)

Veer bhai spoke up next, β€œToh baat kuch esi hai… Aaru tum bua ban ne wali ho.” He said with a huge smile on his face, which hadn’t once lessened in the duration of the call.

(So the thing is… Aaru, you are going to become a bua.)

β€œMai… bua… bhai sa, bhabhi pregnant hai?” She asked, slightly overwhelmed, with a small smile. Veer bhai nodded, making her smile grow.

(I… bua… bhai sa, is bhabhi pregnant?)

I hadn’t spoken once yet since the news was declared.

My little sister… My shivu was going to be a mother. She was just a baby herself years ago.

β€œBhai sa… aap kuch nahi bolenge?” Shivika asked, her question directed towards me.

(bhai sa… wont you speak anything?)

β€œBeta, congratulations… Veer bhai, you too.” I spoke, my voice still a bit hoarse from the emotional reconciliation.

She smiled, β€œShukriya”

(Thanks)

A small teardrop glistened in my eye as the phone call ended.

Aaranya noticed it. β€œKya hua, Raj?” She asked, slightly concerned.

(What happened, Raj?)

I tried to wave it off, but couldn’t. β€œMeri choti behen… Shivu… maa ban ne wali hai. Kitni badi ho gayi hai…” He said, still emotional, while Aaranya hugged him, letting him cry.

(My little sister… Shivu… is going to become a mother. She has grown so much…)

β€œHaan… woh toh hai.” She said while trying to calm me down while we continued to talk.
