Ho thodi umar hai pyar zyada mera
Kaise bata yeh sara tera hoga
Maine mujhe hai tujhko saunpna

Aanhon pe baahon pe raahon panahon pe
Aanhon pe baahon pe saahon salaahon pe
Mere ishq pe haq hua tera

Aaranya’s POV

It was already morning, and I was really excited as Veer bhai sa had told me about the wedding gift he had in store for me.

Well, saying that I am not confused would be an understatement, as I am very confused as to what he means by the gift in prison.

Anyways, he is veer bhai sa, and he knows the best.

I got out of the wardrobe dressed in a yellow saree and diamond pearl accessories with my hair tied in a neat bun, except for two strands falling on my face.

Neat and Elegant.

Yuvraj entered the room from the washroom, his body still wet and dripping with water as he was just in a towel, revealing his abs.

“Aye haaye roz itna chand aur noor dekhne milta hai. Itna khush naseeb koi kaise ho sakta hai.” He said while walking towards me, and picking up the sindoor box.

(Wow, I get to see so much shine and glam every day. I must be god’s favourite.)

He took a pinch and filled my hairline while kissing my forehead.

“Bahot sundar lag rahi ho.” He complimented, making me blush slightly.

(You are looking very pretty.)

He chuckled, “Abhi bhi sharma rahi ho?” He asked while I kissed his cheek and went out of the room.

(You are still shy?)

Downstairs, Maa sa and all the family members were sitting at the breakfast table.

“Baccha kaha ja rahi ho? Khana toh kha lo.” Maa sa said while I shook my head “Nahii Maa sa, Veer bhai sa bahar hi hai mera intzaar kar rahe hai.” I said and went outside while they giggled softly, admiring my excitement.

(Kiddo, where are you going? Have something first.)(Noo Maa sa, Veer bhai sa is waiting for me outside.)

--------

During the entire car ride, I kept asking bhai sa about what was in the prison, but he didn’t tell me anything.

“Bhai sa bataiye na.” I asked in a whiny tone while he shook his head firmly as he replied softly, “Bas 5 minute aur ruk jao ham pahonchne hi wale hai.”

(Bhai sa, please tell.)(Just wait five minutes more, we are about to reach.)

I sighed, finally giving up.

We reached the large entrance of the Central Prison of Alwar as we got out of the car.

Author’s POV

Aaranya walked slowly behind Veer as the guards posted near the entrance greeted them with bows.

They nodded back, acknowledging them.

One guard opened the doors for Aaranya and Veer to enter.

The prison was sharp, black and dark in contrast to what Alwar looks like in all aspects.

There were many rooms in a hallway, and another alley-like hallway, which was empty.

Veer led Aaranya towards the alley.

Another metal gate was there. It looked stronger than the other gates they had seen in the prison.

Veer took out the keys he had shown Aaranya the last day and handed them to her.

“Aaru baccha darwaza khol.” He instructed with a gentle softness lacing his tone.

(Aaru open the door.)

Aarnaya looked confused and had many questions swirling in her mind, but she didn’t put up any yet.

She took the keys and twisted them in the keyhole. A sharp click echoed in the room, and she opened the door, which was known, cold and unwelcoming.

The door opened, revealing something she hadn’t ever seen.

A darkness contrast to her fairy tale.

The prison quarter was dusty, and a cold wind was blowing inside. A sharp smell of blood was in the air, sticky and disgusting.

Veer gave a reassuring squeeze to her hand before leading her to a corner.

“I know Aaru, you won't get scared, and this might be overwhelming. But remember I am here.” He said as a pair of guards entered and turned the chairs towards them, revealing two women sitting or probably forced to sit.

Their body looked thin, as if they weren’t having enough to eat, and wounds that had not healed and were not treated were all over their bodies.

One of them, who looked a bit younger than the other lady, looked up, her hair messier and frame weaker, but Aaranya could recall who she was.

Priyal.

Her older sister. Or she had been.

Her hand tightened under Veer’s gentle hold. “Bhai sa yeh…” She said, looking at him as if realisation struck her.

(Bhai sa they…)

Veer nodded, “Haan. Aur who dusri wali Mrs Rathore hai.” He said softly while pushing her slightly forward, “Aaru inko mai is jagah ek din bhi zinda nahi rehne deta sach jaan ne ke baad par yeh tumhare apradhi hai. Inki saza tum sunao.” He said in an encouraging voice.

(Yes, and the other one is Mrs Rathore.)(Aaru, I wouldn’t have let them live for a single day after knowing the truth. But they are your criminals. You will announce their punishment.)

Aaranya looked at him for a moment, thinking, and then turned to the women, looking at them with a critical eye; her gaze didn’t soften like it would have been any other time.

It hardened further, just like her will, as the moments of her separation from Yuvraj for ten years flashed in front of her eyes, her memory loss, how she lost her teenage years, her palace and identity for years and how just a few days ago, Yuvraj got injured.

“Bhai sa execute them. They don’t deserve to live anymore.” She said in a firm tone.

The two women looked up, their faces humbled rather than the earlier hate they had held. “Please beta maa hu mai teri, apni maa ke sath koi esa karta hai.” Rajeshwari spoke in the hope of seeking some sympathy.

(Please, kid, I am your mother; hold some sympathy for me.)

She had hoped that her daughter, once so kind and vibrant, would grant her life free from these metals binding her.

Aaranya looked at her with disgust “Maa toh khud ko kahiye mat. Apni beti ke sath esa koi karta hai?” She said, her voice and question carrying a finality.

(Don’t call yourself a mother. Who does such things to her daughter?)

Veer looked at her with pride “I am proud of you.” He said as they both turned back to leave, the ladies were still trying to seek sympathy.

Veer walked up to a guard and gave him instructions. Perhaps, which seemed like Priyal and Rajeshwari’s last breaths.

They both left the prison.

Veer led Aaranya towards the car, and they stopped in front of the door.

Aaranya threw her arms around Veer, crushing him in a tight hug.

Her feelings and tears she had suppressed finally fell. “Bhai sa… thank you.” She muttered softly while Veer hugged her back, gently stroking her hair as she cried.

Aaranya’s POV

Aaliya and I came out of the meeting room after a long, tiring meeting for the new interns.

Aaliya was looking different these days; she was glowing differently, and it even seemed like she was hiding something from me.

And before I forget to mention, I have found her and Yudhveer bhaiya snooping around a lot lately, and to be honest, I find it kinda adorable.

So, with the plan to corner her and uncover the truth, we sat in my cabin just to talk. Tanvi is on a break due to a family emergency.

She was quietly opening her lunch while her phone kept buzzing.

“Phone bahot baj raha hai aaj kal tera,” I said, trying to hide my smirk that I already know everything. She startled slightly but managed to cover it. Or she thought.

(Your phone is ringing a lot today.)

“Nahi bas… woh…” She stumbled upon her words as I corrected, “Yudveer bhaiya ka call aa raha hai?”

(No… just… he)(Yudhveer bhaiya is calling?)

She nodded quickly, and then realisation hit her like a truck as she looked up, biting her tongue.

I smirked in victory. “Kabse? Or bataya kyu nahi?” I questioned.

(From when? And why didn’t you tell me?)

Of course, best friend duties.

She sighed, “Okay pura bata ti hu.” She said, and I nodded, changing my position slightly on the couch.

(Okay, let me tell it entirely.)

“On your engagement, I got a crush on him, and then with the functions and closeness, the feelings increased. Then he asked me on a date.” She spoke.

I looked into her sparkling eyes and nodded for her to continue. “I said yes, and since then I feel like every moment is special and…” She said, and before she could finish, I took her in a bone-crushing hug.

“Merii Aaluu…” I said, hugging her and looking slightly emotional.

(My aalu…)

Yudhveer bhaiya is the best possible option for her, and I just love it that my best friend is falling in love.

We continued having lunch while talking on random topics when she suddenly asked: “Tune bataya nahi teri wedding night kaisi thi.”

(You didn’t tell me how your wedding night was?)

I looked up at her with a deadpan look, “Bro, are you kidding me?” I said while laughing, but she held onto her serious look.

I looked confused for a second and stumbled upon my words, but then she started laughing. “Areyy chill mai Mazak kar rahi thi.”

(Chill, I was just joking.)

I hit her hand with minimal force as she continued to laugh, exaggerating my expression.
