Yuvraj’s POV

Soon a week has passed since the alliance of Yuvraj and Aaranya was fixed and it was the day of their engagement finally.

The very engagement that should have happened ten years ago if not for the separation.

Aarnaya walked into the Raghuvanshi palace which was all decorated royally in delight for the precious ceremony to take place.

Yuvraj was standing there in a wine coloured kurta with sequins all over. His hair was neatly styled, and a cheerful smile was planted on his face as he talked to all the guests.

But as soon as the doors to the palace hall opened, and after the Rajput family, Aaranya, his precious fiancée, entered.

His gaze stopped on her, almost dramatically as if in a Bollywood movie but he was awe-struck by the beauty standing in front of him.

She was wearing a sparkly wine coloured lehenga with a sweetheart neckline and a netted duppata was draped over her shoulders. A fabulous belt was secured over her waist. Her hair was tucked into an elegant ponytail except for the two strands in the front which fell over her cheeks.

She was wearing slight makeup and a pair of heavy earrings adorned her ears and her neck was bare except for the delicate chain Yuvraj once gifted her.

Her hands chimed as they moved because of the bangles.

A beautiful and delicate smile graced her face, and at that very moment, Yuvraj vowed to do everything he could to protect that serene smile.

“Anya” A soft voice called out to her gently from the back. Without even realising a smile curved on her face as her heart instantly recognised it was her Raj.

“Kaisi lag rahi hu?” She asked in a low voice looking up at him.

(How am I looking?)

He looked back, locking his gaze with her with an intensity to make hearts burn, but didn’t reply for a few seconds. His hands slowly found their way up to the exposed part of her milky waist before he answered his devotion clearly, “Meri lag rahi ho.”

(You are looking mine.)

“Ishh!! Leave me, Raj… Someone will see.” Aaranya said, panicked as she realised the position they were standing in the middle of the hall.

“Koi baat nahi sweetu.” He replied, leaning down to make a proper eyecontact with her.

(No problem sweetu.)

“Raj, I can’t believe it. We are really getting married in a week, and today is our Engagement.” She said in an excited voice like a little toddler getting her favourite toy.

Yuvraj nodded, sharing the same enthusiasm as her. “Yes, but believe it now, Anya because this is our reality. We are finally going to be together.” He said while intertwining his fingers with hers.

“Kabhi chodke mat jana.” She said in a small voice and his expression instantly turned serious.

(Never leave me.)

“Kabhi nahi!! Chand taaro ka sath chod sakta hai, badal barsa ka aur jal samandar ka par yeh YUVRAJ PRATAP SINGH RAGHUVANSHI APNI ANYA KA SATH KABHI NAHI CHOD SAKTA. Yeh mera aapse vaada raha.” He said in a firm tone filled with intense dedication and devotion which made Aaranya smile in relief, and her heart fluttered with love.

(Never!! The moon can leave the stars, clouds can leave the rain, water can leave the seas but this YUVRAJ PRATAP SINGH RAGHUVANSHI CAN NEVER LEAVE HIS ANYA. This is my promise to you.)

“Aap bhi na!” She said, looking flustered, while he just shrugged as if he hadn’t just declared his epitome of love to her.

(Youu!)

“Jiju yeh toh aapki hi amanat hai kuch dino mai, abhi thodi derke liye udhar le lun mai Aaru ko?” Aaliya asked, peeking from Aaranya’s back with a mischievous glint in her eye and playful tease in her tone.

(Jiju she will be yours only in a few days, but can I take her for some time now?)

“Bilkul saali sahiba,” Yuvraj said, giving her a reply in a tone similar to her.

(Ofcourse)

But just when Aaliya was about to leave with Aaranya, something… or someone caught her attention……

Among the laughter, dhol beats, and the shimmer of lights filling the hall, the moment he stepped out of the luxury car, the noise almost dulled for Aaliya.

Yudhveer Malik

Six feet of raw desi charisma, wrapped in a perfectly tailored black bandh-gala.

Broad shoulders, sharp jawline, and those dark eyes that carried the kind of intensity that made you look twice. He walked with that natural jatka swagger, as if the ground itself bowed beneath his steps.

“Ram Ram, Raghuvanshi saab.” His voice rumbled deep as he bent respectfully to touch his best friend’s father’s feet.

The warmth, the respect, the way his hand lingered in the traditional gesture, it wasn’t just an action, it was an unspoken statement: a lion may bow, but only to his own pride.

Yuvraj’s Father blessed him with a smile, “Jeete raho, Yudhveer.”

(Long live, Yudhveer)

From the corner, Aaliya stood all dressed in a pastel lehenga, clutching her dupatta while standing beside Aaranya, who had already run off towards Yudhveer.

She hadn’t seen him before, but in that moment, she wished she hadn’t, because the way her heartbeat stumbled, it was sinful. The air around her thickened as her eyes trailed to the way his lips curved into a faint smile, the way he straightened with effortless grace.

Her palms heated, her throat ran dry.

‘God… why does he look like every father’s dream and every girl’s mistake at the same time?’ The thought ran through her mind as her gaze was stubbornly fixed on him.

And as if destiny itself was cruel, his gaze flicked in her direction for the briefest second.

Dark, sharp, piercing. It wasn’t even a stare — just a brush of his eyes over hers. Yet it burned hotter than the thousand diyas glowing around them.

Aaranya’s POV

“Yudhveer bhaiya”, I squealed and ran to hug him.

“Bhaiya, I missed you… so so so muchh! I have been back for 10 months now, and you haven’t even come once to meet me. So bad!” I ranted while looking at him playfully.

He sighed dramatically, making me giggle.

Just then, we see Yuvraj standing nearby, looking at us with a deadpan expression. But before he could say anything bhaiya said, “Yaar ab wapis shuru mat ho jaiyo.”

(Yaar, don’t start again now.)

Everyone nearby looked at us, amused, while we all continued talking.

“Well, I told you, Yuvraj. See, she still remembers me.” Bhaiya said, looking at Yuvraj with a smirk while he just shrugged with an expression that said ‘you won…duh!’.

“Bhaiya mai aapko kaise bhul sakti hu. Aur sun ne mai aaya hai ab aap CM ban gaye ho Haryana ke.” I said, looking at him with a teasing yet respectful glance.

(Bhaiya, how can I forget you. And I heard that you have become the Cm of Haryana.)

He bowed dramatically. “Bas aapki kripa…”

(Your wishes.)

I just then remembered something… or actually someone, and ran towards Aaliya. I had left her alone in the excitement of meeting Yudhveer Bhaiya.

Aaliya was standing in a corner, looking deep in her thoughts. I tugged her sleeve, breaking her trance.

“Sorry yaar bhul gayi thi. Chal, I’ll introduce you… He’s Yuvraj’s best friend. From Haryana.”

(Sorry yaar I forgot. Lets go………….)

Her steps hesitated, her dupatta slipping nervously as she followed me

“Yudhveer Bhaiya, she is my best friend,” I said, pushing her forward slightly.

His full gaze locked onto her.

Slow, unhurried, like he had all the time in the world to drink her in. Those sharp Haryanvi eyes that were known for their ruthless nature softened just a fraction, but the intensity remained.

Aaliya lowered her gaze instinctively while her breath was shaky.

Bhaiya smirked. “Ram Ram, Mohtarma.” The greeting rolled off his tongue in that deep, rough velvety tone that the small hairs on the back of her neck stood.

(…….Lady)

Before she could even respond, he tilted his head, eyes glinting with soft mischievousness as he added in his raw Haryanvi, “Bhai ki engagement mein sabse sundar cheez… tu lag rahi se.”

(In my best friend’s wedding, the most beautiful thing here… is you.)

He said in a whisper kind of tone, expecting that none of us would listen, but anyway, I did, and I don’t mind, they are perfect for each other!

Aaliya’s lips parted, words trapped somewhere in her throat. Heat crept up her neck.

Yudhveer Bhaiya caught the flicker of colour on her cheeks and leaned back slightly, his smile widening.

“Sharma gayi?” he teased, voice low enough that only she could hear and walked away without looking back.

(Shy?)

Aaliya was still stunned and processing what was happening.

“Woh…” She stuttered, but before we could talk, I was pulled by Yuvraj.

(That…)

“Arey engagement hamari hai aur tum mere alawa sabke sath ghum rahi ho.” He said, showing innocent jealousy in his tone that made my heart flip.

(Engagement is ours, and you are with everyone except me.)

“Aapke hi toh hai janab,” I said softly, moving closer to him.

(I am yours.)

Just then, the soft music dimmed, and a voice echoed through the speakers.

Aaryan and Aditya Bhai sa.

“Hello… Namaskar sabhi ko.” They greeted everyone, making all the attention turn towards them.

(Hello… Greetings everyone.)

“Toh Jaisa ki aap sab jante hai ki hamare pyaare Rajkumar aur rajkumari ki engagement hai, and mohrat mai abhi thoda time hai toh kyu na ek dance ho jaye. Yuvraj Bhai sa aur Hone wali bhabhi ka.” Aaryan said a bit teasingly, placing his suggestion forward.

(As you all know it is the engagement of our beloved prince and princess and there is still some time in the auspicious minutes, so why not have some dance of Yuvraj bhaiya and to be bhabhi.)

My eyes glinted with excitement, and I looked at Yuvraj, silently asking, my eyebrows pulled a bit closer.

He gave me a small smile and nodded. “Jaisi aapki marzi.”

(As you wish.)

He took my hand, and we walked towards the centre of the hall. All the lights turned off, leaving just the light above us turned on, making the spotlight focus on us.

Soft music of ‘Ishq wala love’ began playing from the speakers.

•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°

Author’s POV

“Surkh wala, souz wala, faiz wala love
Hota hai jo love se zyaada, vaise waalaa love”

He circled her, his fingertips grazing her arm, sending a shiver up her spine.
When she turned, he gently caught her hand and spun her once in a slow, smooth, controlled manner, drawing her in until their breaths mingled.

Hua jo dard bhee to hamko aaj kuch zyaada hua
Ishq waalaa love
Ye kya hua hai kya khabar yahi pataa hai zyaada hua
Ishq waalaa love
Agar ye usko bhi hua hai, fir bhi mujhko zyada hua
Ishq waalaa love”

He pulled her closer by the waist, swaying with her as if their bodies already knew the rhythm.
She stepped back, but he followed, fingers interlocked, guiding her into a soft dip that made her gasp.

Their eyes met, and their smiles widened.

He lifted her hand to his lips, brushing a feather-light kiss against her knuckles, declaring his love softly in front of everyone.

“Meri neend jaise pehlee baar tuuti hai
Ankhe mal ke maine dekhi hai subah
Hui dhoop zyada, leke teri roshani din chada
Ishq waalaa love”

He cupped her cheek, and she closed her eyes like she’d been waiting for that touch without knowing it.
When she stepped back shyly, he turned her back into him with just a soft tug of her hand.

“Jhaanke baadlon kee jaali ke peechhe se
Kare chandni ye mujhko itla
Leke noor zyaada chaand mera yahin pe hai chhupa
Chhupa hua”

Then he walked to her, sliding his fingers down her arm, entangling them with hers.
Pulling her close, he rested his forehead against the side of her head, as if hiding her inside his heartbeat.

 “Ishq waalaa love
Hua jo dard bhee to hamko aaj kuch zyaada hua
Ishq waalaa love
Ye kya hua hai kya khabar yahi pataa hai zyaada hua
Ishq waalaa love
Agar ye usko bhi hua hai, fir bhi mujhko zyada hua
Ishq waalaa love”

He dipped her again, deeper this time, their laughter echoing softly.
She placed her hand over his heart, and he covered it gently, as if promising silently that she was safe here.

“Kyun na aisa hota, jo milte tum
Ho jaate guum saath mere
Hote-hote hoga samajhaayen hum
Tham ja e tham o dil mere”

He took her hand, tugging her closer until she fell softly against him.
For a heartbeat, the world blurred into nothingness, but only their breath, their warmth, their quiet trembling remained.

He placed a steady hand on her waist, stopping her mid-step, making her heart still with the intensity.

“Toota zyada-zyada tara jab gira
Zara zyada-zyada maangu dil tera
Tab bhi zyaada-zyaada maane naa dil ye sarphira
Ishq waalaa love
Bada ye dil naadan tha, par aaj kuch zyada hua
Ishq waalaa love
Jo khone ka tha dar tujhe, pata nahi kyu zyada hua”

He spun her dramatically, catching her before she could even think of falling.
Her fingers curled into his shirt, instinctive, trusting.

And by the end of the lyrics, they realised they had fallen for each other again.

Ishq.
The real kind.

The applause from the audience made them blink out of their trance as they were busy staring at each other.

After a few minutes, Yuvraj’s grandmother called them for the ring ceremony, and they both walked to the setting nearby.

Shivika came with Aaranya’s ring while Aaliya brought Yuvraj’s.

Aaliya first handed the ring to Aaranya, and she took it. Then she slowly took Yuvraj’s hand in hers, but before she could slide the ring on his finger…..

She was pulled behind Yuvraj.

Yuvraj’s POV

I suddenly spotted a hooded figure walking nearby with a gun pointed towards Aaranya, and before he pulled the trigger, I did what my instincts screamed.

I pulled her behind me as soon as I could.

I can die a thousand times, but never let even an ounce of pain touch her.

A loud gunshot echoed, followed by a pained scream that escaped from my mouth as the bullet sliced through my skin.

My body trembled slightly, and panic rippled around the hall.

But the hooded figure escaped…

As my body lost its balance and fell down, I saw the horrified look on my Anya’s face, the tears that were stuck in her eyes.

And then she screamed “Noooo… Yuvrajjjj…”

I looked at her with a small, gentle, loving smile and despite the blood flowing and my wounded shoulder, I lifted my hand and brushed it over her cheek, wiping a lone tear that had escaped her eye.

“Rona nahi…” I whispered before my body gave up, and my eyes closed slowly as I fainted.

(Don’t cry)
