Chapter 22: Tum Mile, Phir Mile

Dehleez pe mere dil ki

Jo rakhe hain tune kadam

Tere naam pe meri zindagi

Likh di mere humdum

Haan sikha maine jeena jeena kaise jeena

Haan sikha maine jeena mere humdum

Na sikha kabhi jeena jeena kaise jeena

Na sikha jeena tere bina humdum

“Yuvraj Bhai, why did you stop me? I would have given her the scolding of a lifetime. She is just acting so dumb for asking time when everyone, including her, knows that her heart still belongs to you.” Aaliya vented out her frustration while sitting in the back seat of the car.

Lakshay was proudly smirking while driving “Well, Aaliya, he did wait for Aaru for ten years. And do you know he used to act like he was allergic to other ladies.” He said in a low yet teasing tone, followed by a warm chuckle from the reminder of the memories.

I didn’t reply.

I wasn’t even listening to them. My mind was completely stuck on Anya.

I thought she would say yes now. It’s not like I have any problem waiting for her a bit more. It’s not like that, my entire life belongs to her.

My heart, my soul and every single fibre of my body.

Sounds of horns honking made me snap out of my daze as I looked over the area and it was familiar.

Our college.

“Lakshay kahan leke ja raha hai. Mere ko kahin nahi jana hai, ghar ki taraf gaadi ghuma le.” I said in a firm voice. My eyebrows furrowed slightly as I tried to comprehend what he actually intends to do by bringing us here.

(Lakshay where are you taking us. I don’t want to go anywhere, just take a u-turn towards home.)

Aaliya was busy scrolling on her phone, her earlier frustration momentarily forgotten.

Meanwhile I was trying my best to persuade Lakshay not to take him to that place. Connected with tons of memories and uncountable joys I had shared with my Anya.

But, Lakshay had other plans.

One of which was not to listen whatever I say even a bit.

So, he geared up the speed making us reach the similar entrance gates of the college even earlier, which once echoed their laughter and journey.

He handed me a dark blue kurta with intricate detailing and asked me to change in the car itself while he and Aaliya got out of the car giving me privacy.

I reluctantly nodded, knowing there is no other way out now.

The kurta.

It seemed really similar.

And then it clicked, it was the same kurta I wore when I proposed to Anya ten years back. I wore it anyways, brushing off the memories that had rushed back and got out of the car.

Lakshay looked at me with a smile. And that smile—I knew it very well. I know something is surely cooking in his mind. I just hope I don’t hate it and shoot him straight on his head.

God save him.

I thought while walking towards the college gate and both of them followed.

As we reached the huge gates of the prestigious college. The guards immediately bowed in respect.

We nodded acknowledging them and walked further.

Suddenly Lakshay came in front of me and made me stop in my way.

He had a blindfold in his hand for god knows what reason.

I looked at Aaliya and she seemed clueless about all this just like me. I didn’t argued and obliged while he tied the blindfold.

I am going to hit him hard if I don’t like whatever he is doing. But till then I don’t have it in me to question anything.

He helped me make my way to I don’t know where.

But the smell of the flowers instantly clicked the flashbacks in my mind. Yeah it was the garden.

Slowly, someone… maybe Lakshay began untying the blindfold.

The solf velvet piece of black cloth fell off from my face and I opened my eyes but instantly closed them back as a piercing ray of sunlight fell.

Gradually I opened my eyes and as soon as I adjusted to the light the scene in front of me sent me to a mix of shock and nostalgia.

Anya.

My Anya.

She was standing under the sun in a dark blue anarkali suit. The sweetheart neckline adorning her neck exactly like it had years ago. The fabric showed off her curves at all the right places. The sunlight was falling on her making her look ethereal and shine like a angel. Her long lush black hair cascaded down her back like a waterfall and oxidized jhumkas and bangles shone on her like crystals.

She was standing by the waterfall exactly the same way I had proposed to her ten years back when she was just sixteen and I was just nineteen.

It all felt so surreal and I felt tears running down my eyes – Warm, Happy tears – overwhelmed with the heavy gush of emotions. I wasn’t able to process anything.

Only the shocked what’s and why’s were swirling in my head.

I was so lost in my own thoughts that I didn’t noticed when Anya had stepped closer towards me and she was looking at me with a small smile as if she is amused by my reaction.

I looked around until my gaze fell on Lakshay and Aaliya.

Aaliya looked just as stunned but Lakshay he had a mischievous smirk twitched on his face.

That look and I got it all.

I have been played.

I thought I was surprising Anya with the proposal but she turned out to be the real voice behind the entire plan.

But why is it all exactly the same like it was ten years back. The way I proposed to her.

Did she got her memories back?

Did Lakshay tell her all this?

How? These questions were troubling me but I kept it all to myself focusing on the better sight of the picture.

Aaranya slowly took Yuvraj’s large, rough palms in her own small hands. Strangely her hand fit in his like it was always meant for.

WHICH ACTUALLY WAS TRUE...

She looked deep in his eyes and a small smile formed on her face.

Satisfaction and overwhelming happiness rushed for Yuvraj with warmth as he smiled back his eyes slightly tearing. Something no one has seen in years under his ruthless façade.

The stars kept whispering your name,

Even as the years played their game.

In every dream, you were near,

Ten years apart, yet always here.

She started in a low yet understandable voice as every single word hit the chords of Yuvraj’s heart perfectly. He just stood these frozen as Aaranya began confessing through a poem which described her feelings fluently.

A tear drop fell from his eyes before he can wipe it. She brushed it away gently while still narrating the poem with a smile.

Fate has brought us face to face,

Time could never make our love erase.

So here I stand, my heart set free,

Will you spend forever with me?

He pressed her hand firmly on his cheek as she completed and then he pressed a soft kiss on her knuckles.

Aaranya knelt down on one knee despite Yuvraj’s protests for her not to.

She took out a beautiful gold ring with small diamonds making him smile before she spoke the next five words.

‘Will you Marry me Raj?”

He nodded instantly as she carefully placed the ring on his finger and kissed on it softly.

Yuvraj picked swept Aaranya off the ground suddenly, twirling her around and laughing freely after years.

After a few minutes placed her down and both of them were still laughing,

Aaranya eyes glinted with playful mischievousness. “Hans mat pagle pyaar ho jaaegaa.” The words rang out on her tongue softly as she looked at him with love swirling in her eyes.

He also retorted teasingly while leaning down to match her eyes. He playfully brushed her nose and whispered like a gentle note of adoration. “Hans mat pagli pyaar ho jaaegaa”

She giggled like a school girl again who lost her melodies years back and hugged him tightly. He wrapped his hands around her without hesitation and pressed his face in the crook of her neck inhaling the scent of his muse after years.

They both stood there in each other’s embrace as if time had froze leaving them together. The entire world around them seemed to blur and the noises faded away.

All they could hear was the slow breathing of each other and small sniffles.

Just then Aaranya hiccupped slightly and Yuvraj snapped back from his reverie and pulled back just enough to look into her eyes.

“Aap ro kyu rahi hai jaana?” He asked softly, his brows furrowed in confusion and concern as she shook her head.

(Why are you crying Jaana?)

He gently brushed her tears, his touch containing a silent promise .

Just then his brows pulled in together more close as another question suddenly lingered in his mind again “Anya baccha aapki memories wapis aa gayi?” His voice came out much softer than expected tinged with hopefulness.

(Anya have your got back your memories?)

She just looked up at him with a small smile as said eight words that hit his memories hard making smile back through the tears that flowed warm down her cheeks.

“Hame aapse ishq ho gaya hai Rajkumar Sahab!”

(I love you my Prince.)

He looked at her in shock and slowly leaned down and pressed his lips against her forehead for a brief second before peppering her face with small, soft pecks making his breath stick over her.

Nose… right cheek… left cheek… forehead… chin… earlobes… and LIPS.

He whispered against her lips “Hame bhi aapse bahut ishq ho gaya hai Rajkumari sahiba.”

(I love you more my princess.)

The entire conversation turned into a nostalgia of what they once shared ten years back a brief flashback and a trailer of the fresh beginning of their lives.

Ahem… Ahem… Cough… Cough

“Dakhal andazgi ke liye khed hai. Par ab chale jiju.” Aaliya spoke teasingly while walking towards Aaranya and Yuvraj.

She hugged Aaranya tightly genuinely happy with her decision.

Meanwhile Yuvraj glared at Lakshay his earlier reason how he came till the garden flashing back.

Lakshay raised his hands up in playful surrender earning chuckles from everyone nearby.

“Yeh dono toh bachpan se ese hi the.” He muttered lovingly while trying to act frustrated but none was visible.

Aaranya looked down shyly under the intense gaze of Yuvraj as they walked back towards the cars, and returned back to their cities with hearts full of love and satisfaction.

Sneak Peak for Chapter 23

Yuvraj’s eyes softened as his sight landed on the vision standing in front of him in a beautiful mint coloured kurti paired with jeans. The borders of kurti defined her waist so fun that his hand instinctively raised a bit in the air to trace it before falling down.

The soft chimes of her silver jhumkas and anklets, barely audible yet lingered like lifelines in his heart.

As Yuvraj noticed the slight furrow of her brows making her look eyen cuter yet slightly confused. He regained himself out of his daze.

“Chote papa yeh jagah meri hone wali biwi ki hai.” He said softly, his eyes not moving away from Aaranya even for a second.
